It really depends on how carefully you transplant it. If you dig sufficient root ball it will still move fairly easily. Most Clematis are very resilient. Here in the western U.S. where I live, we normally see -20F minimum temperatures in the winter, yet our garden has 8 various Clematii...
After moving the plant, water well, butnot so much that it stands in water. Fertilize sparingly until it re-starts vigorous growth... Prune according to variety...
