Am I allowed to put nails/tacks in a fence ??
I was putting some tacks in the fence that runs between my & my neighb's house and he came out and had a go at me. saying ....Am I nailing HIS fence & I shouldnt be. Not to long ago the wind blew a portion of the fence down & he decided to put up a new one to match his other two. So where do I stand. as I feel like nailing him in the head at the moment.

If it is solely your neighbour, you cannot paint it, nail it, attach anyting to it without his permission,
If it yours, vice versa - but you should pay for the maintenance and repairs.
If it is a party fence the costs should be divided and you can do what you like with it.
On the face of it, it sounds as if your neighbour is in the right, but check your plans. There will be T markings running down the boundary - if the leg extends into your garden, it is yours; in to his garden, it is his; into both - shared.
You can put another fence up on your side and do whatever you like with it.

cheers for that.... I will check it out...I think he got the bad luck of having to be responsible for all of his surrounding fences.
Another Q. tho.... He lives at the end of a cul-de-sac and has had a gate put in his other fence line that runs dow the side of another street which he does not live on & if he were to access this street not using his gate he would have to walk round the block like the rest of us. Is this legal.
