how do I look after an orchid

I have been given an orchid, I don't know what kind it is. Can anyone tell me how i feed, water and generally look after it?

Finding out what species it is will really help. Most orchids for general sale these days are either the moth orchid (Phaelonopsis) or Cymbidiums.

Both easy to care for, they need a bright window sil or similar with no direct sunlight. Keep them watered when they need it and that's about it....i had a moth orchid that flowered for a year !!!
