Sony Viao laptop display problem

Hi, I have suddenly developed 2 narrow pink lines (like narrow borders) down the middle of my screen. started with only one line,now there are two.They are approx 6inches apart. Any clues anyone please? Thanks in anticipation

it doesn't sound good ....
if you are lucky it's the connector (trouble is which end?)
if not it's the screen

how old (the machine - not you)?

Thanx for your response - the laptop is about 5 years old,and the problem seemed to start when I installed AOL desktop and was using Facebook but this might just be a co-incidence
