accomodation in home as a companion/helper
5 Answers
I am going to be returning to the UK after a period of time abroad, and whilst I look around for a place to live would like to find a place to stay with someone, who has their own home and would be willing to let me stay with them, rent free, in exchange for helping out around the home, i.e. cleaning, shopping , DIY, decorating, gardening, shopping, driving etc.

Most will get you live-in care work (you don't pay rent or food) for about 300 to 380 (net) per week. Be warned!! It is hard work and sometimes very unpleasant (cleaning up urine and faeces, manual bowel evacuation {work it out!!} clients with dementia, long hours as in tetraplegic clients who need to be turned every 2 hours 24 hrs of the day, isolation as in being there 24 hrs with little time off etc.)
You can also look in a magazine called "The Lady" from wh smith - lots of caring/companion/DIY jobs.
Most from both of the above will want at least a 3 month commitment.
Do a search on live-in care work.
Good luck and forget about the negative and judgemental poepholes out there
