Fig tree

I have a three year old fig tree standing in a very large pot. only 1 fig this year [ same last year] all the leaves have turned a yellow colour and are dropping off one by one.
Have I watered too much/too little and what should I do now pls ?

it sounds like it might be pot bound if you can try putting it in a 2 inch bigger potbreak of some of the old soil put the new soil under and around the plantmake sure that make it fairly firm. a little light liquid fertilizer once a week
if you carnt put it in a larger pot put in the garden
The one thing all the gardeng books say is do not plant your fig tree in the ground.. apparently the roots spread everywhere.. it should be in a large pot at least 18" which is actually better for it..I have had mine about 3/4 years and its doing fine..I have to remember big pots need a lot of water- and if my fruit starts dropping or the leaves, its usually because I haven't been giving it enough water. once I give it a really good saoking its fine...
