Hi,

My OH has asked me if i can plnt something in the front garden to climb up the trellis on the wall to make it look nice before selling the house.

We dont want an ivy. Can anyone suggest a plant that still grows reasonably quickly in winter?

TIA.

Winter flowering jasmine usually has nice little yellow flowers and is a climber. Have a look and see if you can find a well established plant at a nursery and it should grow quite quickly

Jasmine may flower in winter but it will not grow during the winter. There is nothing that will grow quickly during the winter to climb and cover a trellis. The best thing to do is buy a big plant that can cover it now.

Pyracantha look good during the winter and you can often buy large ones already on a trellis that can be transfered onto your one on the wall. Not a climer but more a wall shrub but it will do what you want.

This wisteria'll still grow during the frosts.

Thanks for the suggestions all.
I've plumped for a Clematic Wisley cream which is an evergreen and winterflowering.

And i think i'm also going to get a jasmine too.
