Does anyone in the UK grow their own melons? I know most are imported from the likes of Spain but just wondered if they would be a viable greenhouse crop?

Any ideas about temperature requirements and such like H?
I used to grow them 10 years ago so things may have changed . Treat them same as tomatoes but you do have to control the flowering so that at least two are growing on the same plant at the same time , otherwise the plant doesn't bother after the first one. I think you need to do the pollinating with a brush. I believe the variety was a Guadaloupe. However the instructions come with the seeds and or plants. In all it is very simple. Best of luck !

Excellent stuff thanks very much!
I 've had a rethink about the variety of the melons and it's Cantaloupe so I wasn't far out, also there are several web sites on Google entitled 'How to grow Cantaloupe melons' which will give the latest information. Just punch up Cantaloupe Melons and there are several to choose from.
