If there are no chemicals or pesticides used on organically grown food why are there no caterpillars or other bugs found on cauliflowers or cabbages? I used to bring vegetables home straight from the fields iin Lincolnshire and sometime they were covered in them...x

I would love to go back to the days when the veg came with dirt and contained bugs and caterpillars. The veg weren't washed in nasty chlorinated water and you could store them for ages. I really don't trust these clean veg!!
When Birds Eye or Findus etc buy Veg from the Farmers the Produce is Frozen after being washed within 2 Hrs of Harvesting. I find Frozen Veg just as good as Fresh unless it is picked from your own Garden.
That's true Redman. I know it's true because the farm estate I live on have to work to a strict timetable to actually get the peas in on time otherwise they are turned away.

However, fresh veg keep longer if they are not washed.
I only like frozen peas though. Other veg. don't taste the same - they are still to soft for my liking.
Frozen veg is naff....except for peas and sweetcorn.
I forgot about sweetcorn - that's OK frozen too. Agreed.
