I have just noticed all the leaves on my pyracanthas appear to have a bubble within them and a small brown insect inside. What is this and how do I rid them? TIA

Hi Carlton, A bit early for pests outside, you must be warming up!! Pyracantha dont have a great deal of pest issues and not so early in the year. It sounds like it may be a small caterpillar which I have seen on them before.

If you had not said you had seen an insect I would have suspected frost damage as they have suffered a lot this winter. I am not sure what else this could be.

hi Hawkwalk, yes, I agree, they don`t have much to worry about insect wise, and I have had this plant for several years to keep out intrders, so to show it my appreciation for it`s security of my premises, I must look after it in it`s time of need. Excuse me whilst I blow my nose and wipe away a tear.
There is Pyracantha blight .. very damaging. Need to remove and burn.

I have googled it and found it to be Leaf Miners and will treat the plant with a suitable spray like Rose Cl**r, as it`s systemic.
