Use glyphosate (tumbleweed, roundup, or similar with glyphosate active ingredient) and apply it to leaves and centre. Drip it on or use a childs paintbrush. Keep it off the grass. Do it at least 4 hours before rain or dew. They may take a month to die. Come back after 6 weeks and do any you missed. It is a lazy way to spend a sunny afternoon on a lawn. You may have to do a round every spring for a year or two. Pity though, dandelions are very pretty, flower before much else, are very useful to bees, and if they were difficult to grow they would cost £5 a pot.
