I put pelleted poultry poo on then in early spring mixed with a little blood fish and bonemeal if they have perennials or shrubs in, otherwise i use liquid seaweed extract 1/2 until I can make up some comfrey and nettle liquid manure . Fuschias are good with tomato food all season....

Thanks for that, Rowanwitch. I will try the seaweed extract, does the 1/2 mean half strength then? I mostly use tomato food and have good results on the fuschias but am never quite satisfied!!!! (Altho' is any gardener? lol) i.e. 'you should have seen it last week,or next week!!!!) Thanks again rosy
Save yourself a lot of time and use slow release feed pellets, and add water retaining gel to the compost.
