I am trying to grow a couple of orchids that i have bought from a supermarket, they are in plastic pots.

I have been told that they would be better in glass pots as the roots also need sunlight to help the plant grow better.

Can anyone help me with this

Thanks

Depends on the type of orchid, some are effectively air plants and need light and moisture on the roots, others re soil growers, a glass pot might heat up to much. I mostly use acrylic pots for mine and stand the pots on wet gravel
I would not get too hung up on the whole roots need light to grow advice. It is not wrong but they will grow ok without a clear pot by the time you get to buy them. Also many roots are at the surface already receiving good light which is enough for them
Cool humid conditions with plenty of natural light no sun.
Spray mist foliage and aerial roots daily.
Orchids in natural environment don't need roots planted in any soil.
Mine was a gift three years ago and is still flowering its in a metal pot on my windowsill above a radiator I water it once a week and as I said its been thriving for 3 years.
