Asking for assistance for a simple hose problem.

I do not have an outside tap so I have to use the kitchen multitap if I need to use a hose outside, now I have a Hozelock multitap to fit on the tap and a hose end connector fits on to that, now that fits fine, problem is that when I turn the tap on, even slightly, the hose shoots off the end of the hose end connector, I've tried different end connectors and even a different hose but every time the tap goes on - whoosh, water everywhere. This is very annoying so does anybody have any advice for getting a solid reliable connection going?
This sounds like a really trivial easy to fix problem, or it should be, but I just can't get it working right.
My tap hates me.

Thanks Jack, the hose connector bit certainly looks more rugged than a standard one, and I suppose you could get a jubilee clip round it too.

I had exactly the same problem - no matter what I tried, I could not get a hose to stay on. So I had a spur taken off the cold water outlet under the sink just for putting a hose on and a tap under the sink. Worked absolutely fine! (Didn't cost me anything because my brother did it for me).

I installed an outside tap, not always practical in every situation I know, it cost me about £12 in total, very easy to carry out by any DIY enthusiast, (not that I was ever enthusiastic about doing it).

Just out of interest, when you turn the tap on is the end of the hose which is in the garden turned off (closed)?? If it is closed, try opening the tap when the other end is open and see how that works. Maybe your water pressure is too high for the hose connector????

Hi Wak, I tried it both ways. When I turned it on while closed (even just a little bit) I managed to get my back turned to go out the door when it exploded, if I turned it on while open I would get out of the back door to the hose then hear a bang from inside the house then legged it back inside to find the now disconnected hose chucking water all over the place, just as the missus walked in.

You really need to plumb an outside tap through the wall.
£15 tops on bits and an hour to do (assuming you can get at the cold pipe under the sink)
Adapters for inside mains taps are not really designed for standard mains pressure (45-65psi)

Sorry to hear that you are still having trouble, Daisho.
I wouldn't have thought that it would blow off when the other end was open as the water pressure must be a bit less when open.
Does the whole connector blow off or is it just the actual hose pipe that slips out of the connector?
Next time you try it, drape an old towel over the tap and it may help to reduce the splashing.

IMO connectors to sink/basin/bath taps don't work that well. The taps are not designed for hoses.

I managed to get a reasonable fit with one that basically screwed on on the top of the tap in a similar manner to a vice or clamp, but even then I had to insert a block of wood under the clamp bit or else I would run our of screw thread before the clamp came down on the tap. I think it is a common design in the DIY sheds and garden centres.

A bit like this I suppose - but I guess you must have tried that.
