What's happened to my potatoes? As a rule I always plant either Maris Piper or Maris Peer seed potatoes. Last year however, for a change, I planted Marfona and had a beautiful crop, so this year I did the same. I've just lifted my first plant and imagine my surprise to find they're not red. So, here's my question. Are Marfona's reds or whites? The family will be disappointed to find out they're not reds. If Marfona's are whites, then last year's seed potatoes were incorrectly packaged and what variety second earlies could they have been? Any ABer's out there who are spud specialists? Thanks in advance, Mrs_N
Many thanks to both of you. I've since looked on the Potato Council's website (probably a QUANGO that will disappear) and it very much looks like the variety I grew last year was Romano. Never mind, at least I know what to buy next year.
