I'm growing chillis and wondering if they are hotter when they are green or when they ripen and go red?

when they are red
I`ve never noticed a difference
They are at their hottest when they burst out of you A *se when you sit on the Pan the next day !Have fun...........
Doesn't it depend on the variety rather than the colour?
Red... hottest but an unripened (green) scotch bonnet will still be hotter than a normal ripe red chilli for example..variety is really important.. the whitish membranes and the seeds are the hottest parts of the peppers
