Dressing Beds
29 Answers
Just watched 60 min makeover whilst eating lunch. If I came back to that house that was on today I would cry in distress.
Nothing to do with my question though, or rather a couple of questions.
Do you dress your beds? Do have have cushions, throws, etc. etc. all beautifully and strategically places as they do in all these makeover programmes etc. Personally, I just have a quilt cover and pillow cases!! However, when we went on holiday the bed was dressed perfectly and apart from finding it really tiresome getting into bed, whatever do you do with all the paraphanalia at bedtime? I didn't want to put the holiday cottage stuff on the floor, so it all went on top of the wardrobe and stayed there for a week!!
I just couldn't be bothered with making a bed up like that every day. Why would you.
Just interested!!

I agree.
They certainly were a nuisance in the holiday cottage. Two big bolsters, four cushions and a throw which served no purpose whatsoever except it looked pretty.
Couldn't put them down on the floor, wouldn't fit on the bedroom chair, so up on top of the wardrobe they went. They were not cheap items either!!

Actually, all these makeover programmes drive me mad. You never see any clutter, there are often no wardrobes or storage spaces and the homes are completely bland and unliveable in. And the stuff they put out about how to sell your home is just so unachievable. You are meant to hide up everything, redecorate, get rid of half your furniture - madness in my opinion.
I do all that stuff if I am selling my house right down to matching the colour of the fruit in the bowl to the wallpaper!! The thing that sells the house best for me though is having immaculately tidy and organised fitted wardrobes. There is nothing like looking in a fitted wardrobe and seeing everything properly hung and colour matched. It makes people a) feel that you really take care of your home and b) makes them believe that if they buy your house their wardrobes will look like that.
But on a day to day basis, I couldn't be bothered with fancy stuff on the beds.

Surely though Annie if you are buying a house you can see past all that. Having said that I have only ever bought two houses, both of which we have renovated completely so I wasn't looking at any decor etc.
If I ever move again, apart from the structure of the house, I won't be looking at internal decor, fixtures, fittings etc.
