Hair colour help needed!

my hair is very fair naturally, but greying lots now especially at the front, have coloured it for years now, when we had the very hot weather a few weeks ago it became very light, today I put a light ash colour on it, as it looked a bit yellow to me, it turned out ash/blue!.....not happy!...............what can I do?..........got a party at the weekend!......can't go there with my hair looking slightly blue!.....help please!..........

Is it a permanent colour? You need to add the red back to the hair to nutralise the ash. Something like a honey blonde if you are fair.

thanks ratty!.....yes it is permanent........it's not very blue!........just a bit!......scared to colour it again in case it gets even worse!.........do you think that a honey blode will work!?.......or should I try washing it lots and lots?.................

You need another colour on , if its permenant it wont fade / wash out im afraid

if it's permanent then just washing isn't going to help. Perhaps you could try a semi permanent colour then if it's not what you want it will wash out. But if you find you like it you could get the permanent version. You need to replace the red thats been toned down too much by the ash, so you need to look for a colour that has red tones but that doesn't mean you have to go ginger. There are a lot of 'warm' blonde shades.

oh! ladybirder, then I will have to put up with staying a bit blue then!........too scared to try the honey blonde in case I end up greeeen!.............scary!............

Fair enough I wouldn't want to be green either...pink, purple, red, blue but not green.
As I said try a semi first then it's easier to change if you don't like it.

I know you can get colour strippers, but I don't know how efficient they are of how damaging they might be to your hair.

welsh - dont have your hair stripped; its not necessary with modern tints. Grey hair is resistant to most 'over the counter' tints as the required product is only safe in trained hands. If you're more than 50% grey you are best advised to use a salon.

If you cant afford to go to a hairdresser why not try and local hairdressing school ? it will be much cheaper and they will know what to use. Might be worth it as a one-off.
