I need a new vacuum cleaner, preferably upright and light weight. All the adverts I have seen so far are for the bagless kind. I used to have one with a so-called Hepa filter but didn't like it because it was a devil to empty and keep clean, so I'd consider going back to the bagged kind. Comments for or against would be appreciated. Is there such a thing as a bagless vac that is easy to empty without making a horrid dusty mess?
Chatting with an aquaintance who works for an electrical retailer, he reckons from his experience that, on average, a bagged vacuum cleaner will last twice as long as a bagless.
Not boasting but I have two dysons (it's a long story) and I wouldn't be without them, and the customer service is excellent. When or if something goes wrong with them you pay a flat fee - seems expensive at the time - but whatever the cause of the problem it costs nothing more, all parts are included in the fee.
Funny that. The folk that mention Dysons mention repairs. A decent vacuum should not need repair. Meiele and Bosch for instance tend to go on forever.
I hear so many Dyson owners talking repair.
Many thanks for all these comments. I still haven’t decided but am considering a Hoover PU2110 (bagged upright) with various ‘on board’ attachments. It sounds good and can be seen on many websites. Interesting to know if anyone has one of these.
I've recently bought a Morphy Richards Never Losses Suction upright a month ago, was a bit sceptical as it was so cheap. It's proved to be fantastic!
Much better, IMO, than the Dyson.
Vax U91-MA-B Air Multicyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner weights less than 6kg. A friend has one and thinks it's great.I personally believe that bagless are the best.
Absolutely! we have just bought an amazing bagless one, a Morphy Richards Lift away Family & Pets at just over £100 from Argos 2 months ago, now you can get for £90 online

Can really recommend this, it's suction is just amazing, better than my friend's expensive top-of-range Dyson!
I have a Karcher upright vacuum cleaner. It's been the best vacuum I have ever had. My Mum has 2, one for downstairs and one for upstairs because they can be on the heavy side. They also use bags. I had a bagless Hoover for the shop....never again! Useless things in my opinion!
