My Lovely Teapot :(

OH accidentally dropped our red teapot lid on the kitchen floor tiles and smashed it. Loved that teapot, it was only from Wilkinsons (Wilkos make) but was white with big red hearts patterned all over and a red lid. Now discontinued - story of my life :( Even tried Ebay.

Do you know of any shops just selling teapot lids?

No. Do they come in standard sizes ? You may get more joy contacting a potter, amateur or professional, with your request for a one off.

I don't Ann but have you tried Googleing deleted pottery, worth a try you never know your luck.

You could measure the hole, buy a cheap red teapot and just keep the lid. Or put it as a 'Wanted' post on Freecycle.

Thanks for all your suggestions - I have been carrying the lid around with me in my handbag (new accessory!!) to see if I can buy a teapot with a similar lid. It is only the teapot knob which you hold which has broken off and just left a hole in the actual lid! I would have glued it back on but it broke into hundreds of pieces.

In which case there must be a possiblity of filing the hole circular and then fitting a new handle of some kind to it.

Thanks maydup - I did see the Emma Bridgewater one, but think it's pink and mine is bright red, different shape too. Thanks everyone, I will carry on looking with the lid in my handbag on my travels ;)

Unless it's totally smithereened, glue it back together with superglue !
Superglue works quite well on pottery.

If you know someone who is an art teacher they could possibly make you a knob for the lid.
