Recommend Anything To Stop Rug Moving About?

I recently bought a large rug (7'6" x 5'7") for my living room - I've a carpet fitted as opposed to wood floors or laminate so it's on top of carpet.
I've noticed that it doesn't properly lay flat for very long and folds appear and it starts to 'creep'. I usually have to shuffle my feet along it to get it flat again. It's not the most expensive of rugs (£50) so maybe this is the reason? I didn't have this problem with my previous rug. It was a lot heavier mind you.

Anyway, can any of you recommend a product I can purchase to hold it in place? Was also thinking maybe the rug 'settle' into a flatter position eventually - maybe it's creeping because it was rolled up so long? Doubt it though.

You used to be able to get a rubber net type thing to put under the rug, U'll have a google about

Thanks rockyracoon for your suggestion. I should have explained better about the movement of rug. It doesn't slide about the carpet as such - it creeps up into folds like an accordion (it's the only way I can describe it). It's not so much that I'm slipping about on it as such.

No guarantees, but Foxy is the best anti slip stuff I have ever used. B and Q do their version in their rug department which is cheaper but IMO not so good. Foxy doesn't always work but is better than the rubber meshy stuff and the sprays you can get Don't skimp. Get a bit that is almost as big as your rug.

I have a good quality rug in my lounge and it creeps very slowly. it does not crease because it is too stiff. What I suggest is to get a sheet of thin plywood the same size and glue the rug to it. Your local woodyard will cut it to size for you. Use a good quality glue like No Nails. May not be perfect but easier to manage. The rubber anti creep strips will not work if the base is another carpet (ive tried it). Alternatively you could buy a really stiff good quality rug. The stiffest rug you can get i think is 1million points per square metre or 50ounces psm. Or an offcut trimmed to the size and edges bound.

I had the same problem with a rug in my bedroom. My sister sent me an item called a Living Non-Slip Floor Runner Grip Sheet which she got from Argos. Its not expensive, easy to use and amizingly effective.

JRB, I checked the reviews for the product you recommended on Argos and it's got fantastic reviews.
I've already ordered double sided sticky cloth tape from Ebay and am waiting on it's arrival - if it doesn't work though, at least I know to try your tip.
