Hi, does anyone out there own an LG WM14225FD direct drive washing machine, we have ours for about 5 years now, and it still stinks like something has died in there. I am not calling LG service, we called them out only 6 months after having the machine, and all he said was nothing you can do , you are going to have to live with it,Why should we buy another when this works Superb (except for the smell) which comes back a few times a month. Cleaned the Sink pipes, the internal spray pipe (just inside the door) checked the filter (regularly) even put a machine cleaner through it (regularly). HELP PLEASE its directly driving me to dispair. PS: the washing stinks too.

Have you tried thick bleach? Wipe around the door seals with a little then run the machine on the hottest longest setting with a third to a half a bottle of cheapo thick bleach from the supermarket. Puts some in the detergent dispenser and the rest in the drum.
PS forgot to add, after the program has finished, run it again, longest hottest, with nothing in the machine and nothing added to get rid of any residual bleach
Just wondering if (smelly) water from the main drain could be siphoning back to the machine at the end of the emptying cycle. If it's an 'indirect connection', (machine's rubber hose just pushed into a vertical pipe, connected to the drain), make sure the hose isn't pushed too far into the pipe. Allow a good gap between the hose end, and any residual water that may be in the pipe. If it's a direct connection, (rubber hose attached directly to a sink U-bend pipework), make sure the hose is almost as high as the machine between the machine and the pipe connection. Hope this helps, though I've seen reviews on this machine where others have complained about smells, alas!

Hi Heathfield, No the pipe was put in correctly, into the sink waste pipe, so there is no chance of syphoning. I might just wait till the missus goes on holiday, pull the machine out and strip the whole thing down.
