For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.To give a definitive answer, we need to know the actual sizes of each piece of flooring. To say it covers 1.008 m2 is not enough, as already said, you need to consider the waste, so better to buy more packs.
The area of the floor is 3.5 x 4.5 = 15.75 m2
Divide this by 1.008 gives 15.625 packs.
I'd get 17 packs, as you can take unopened ones back like bhg481 says :)

If you are not confident of your maths it is helpful sometimes to sketch these things out, ideally on squared paper. You can use a scale of 1cm = 1m. I'd treat the packs as covering 1m² rather than 1.008 m².
The answer also depends on how small the pieces are in the packs and the pattern as this affects the extent to which you can use part-packs, I'd buy 20 as the worst case and hope to be able to return three

Ric not putting you of at all because as others have said, solid engineered hardword laid correctly will last a lifetime if looked after, but you need factor in other costs as well as just flooring, e.g glue, new skirtings or quadrant to cover expansion gaps, underlay etc, it also depends on weather you are laying it on concrete or wooden floor. Are you planning on laying it yourself?
Any of the usual suspects, Ric ......... Homebase, Wickes etc
