Can You Blank Off A Shower Hose?
4 Answers
My bathtub has a shower hose running from underneath the main tap. There's a 4-way connection piece with hot water in from the right, cold water from the left, main bath tap out the top and shower hose coming out of the bottom. The shower hose runs underneath the bath to the other side.
The shower is a terrible design so any time it is turned on the water that runs back down the hose just goes underneath the bath. The has resulted in a soaked downstairs carpet and water running down the walls.
I would like to disconnect the shower hose but before I do my question is: is it possible to block off/blank off the hole? Ideally this would leave just a 3-way junction between hot in, cold in and bath tap out.
The other question is: if so, is there a standard uk size for bathroom inlets?
I appreciate I have probably used some terribly amateur terminology! I hope my situation can be understood.
Many thanks

If the three way junction is threaded one of these would do the job. Check the size first though. http://www.e bay.co.uk/it m/3-4-Inch-B rass-Blankin g-Cap-and-Wa sher-BSP-Bri tish-Standar d-Pipe-Threa d-/111512159 743?hash=ite m19f6a485ff: g:z~oAAMXQBl JR8lSy

As a rule shower hose fittings are 1/2"BSP thread .. have never yet come across a 3/4" one.
This is what I would suggest ...

Alternitavely ... When out on site and a blanking plug is needed the standard procedure is get a chromed 1/2" nut from a compression fitting. Drop a 5p piece into it .. then place a 1/2" rubber washer on top of the 5p. Tighten the nut on wherever you need the blanking plug.
