Carpet Fitters Prices

We have just had a carpet fitted and it was a completely square room. Last time we had one fitted was a stair and hall which was a terrible shape. Both fitting costs were pretty much the same. It seems is was based on area rather than difficulty. Is this the case and as far as the fitters are concerned 'some you win and some you lose'

That seems to be the case where I live....If you buy the carpet unfitted its so much per square metre and if you buy it including fitting its a bit more per square metre.
