Moving Toilet Seat
20 Answers
Why do some toilet seats jolt out of position? I have the same problem with 2 toilets in my new house and one of them is difficult to sort out because you can't get underneath to adjust the bolts or whatever they are called. The under bit is kind of fixed to a panel so you can't reach it.
How do you stop seats from buckling out of place?

There are two main fixing types... top fixing and bottom fixing.
With the (better) top fixers................ a Toutube is worth a thousand words Tiggs. So try this first.............
He's Australian, so you may have to stand on your head to do this ;o)

If you can't get underneath to tighten it, are you sure it doesn't get tightened from above. Often you just prise the caps off the top of the fixings and you may find screws below the caps.
I used to fit two or three toilet seats a week .. the only one I would fit was the Wickes soft close thermoset seat with the stainless fittings. The fittings came with a very thin silicone rubber seal. It was always a case of cleaning the area really well where the holes went through the pan. Then placing the seal down onto the pan before offering up the seat to the holes. Once the seat was centralised, then tighten the screws .. my reason for using this particular seat was, once it was fitted properly, you never got called back to a loose seat.

You need a BEMIS seat, they never loosen. I can thoroughly recommend them.

Thought this was appropriate and possibly a warning !
One day I was loading my van, just finished for the day and ready to head home, when this lady came running out of this very exclusive building next door to where I had been working.
She ran up to me and grabbed me by the arm and said "come quick, I need a lift". I asked her what was wrong, all all she said was "you will see in a minute".
Up we went to the penthouse where all was revealed .. literally !
The rather rotund lady who she looked after, had slipped off the loose toilet seat sideways and fallen to the floor and had become wedged between the pan and the wall !!
Her dress was round her waist and her pants .... yep you've guessed it !
With the help of a towel for modesty I got hold of her legs and dragged her out before falling backwards onto the floor. She was screaming, I couldn't stand up for laughing. Once it all calmed down I went and got my tools and secured her toilet seat and accepted a cup of tea and said " I didn't want any payment". The lady of the house couldn't thank me enough as I was leaving she told the housekeeper to "look after him and walk him back to his van". When we got back to the van she then shook my hand and squeezed something into it before running off shouting thank you. The biggest tip I have ever received in my life .. a roll of notes secured with an elastic band !
I shouted after her saying I can't take this.. and she shouted back "I can't hear you, thank you, bye" and kept running !
