I have a 3 speed ceiling light fan in my bedroom. It has a chain operated switch that hangs down and when pulled it operates to give a off- 1- 2- 3 speed function.Unfortunately it has ceased to function and I now need to replace the switch with likewise or something similar. I have tried to obtain a new switch but to no avail one problem is I don't know the brand name of the fan, the last thing I want to do is throw it away as it is a really useful thing and is in really good condition.Does anyone have any ideas on how I could obtain such a switch even a second hand one would do.I live in the Solihull area of the West Midlands. Thanks.

I would bypass the switch and supply the fan from a wall mounted speed selector switch or dimmer type speed control for fans. You should be able to get one of these quite easily.
Want to do it the safe legfal way ? Then chuck it and get a new one. Fans are pretty cheap and easy to replace. Dont risk burning your house down just to save a few bucks.
