Smelly Microwave
8 Answers
My workmates insist on cooking things in the microwave in open dishes, and refuse to cover them.
This means that every morning I have chilli or curry flavoured porridge.
Cleaning the microwave is not an option, as the people concerned are allergic to ANY domestic chores.
Anyone got any tips on diluting or removing the smell, other than buying a separate microwave and putting a padlock on the door?

This is a very selfish attitude from your workmates.
Buy a pile of those plastic covers from the pound shop and leave them next to the microwave with a note asking them to cover their food. The lemon tip is good I always do this and any gunge all comes off.Though why you should have to clean up after dirty devils like that is beyond me !

Try this: put 1 Tablespoon of vinegar (use white vinegar) , one cup of warm water and 1 or 2 drops of dish soap in a small microwave safe bowl. Put it in the microwave on high for 3-4 minutes and let stand for 15 minutes. Then wipe the microwave out with a damp sponge. The steam and use of vinegar loosens up the build up in the microwave.
