I am considering purchasing a pair of leather sofas, in the hope that my cat will not be able/feel inclined to scratch them as she has done my fabric sofas. Any experience on this matter? Will she be able to do any damage?
I've got a leather sofa and a cat (had them 2 years) and he hasn't really done any damage. If you look closely there are a few tiny scratches on the seats where he has jumped on and off but they are hardly noticable.
He certainly doesn't use it like a scratching post like he did with my fabric one!
Our cats savaged one corner of our new leather suite. Yes, they did have a scratching post, and are outdoor cats. It's wrecked now, we have to cover it up with a throw.
I have just ordered leather sofas as we are moving house. . my cat ruined my fabric ones. I am going to start as i mean to go on by closing the lounge door when i am not there and hopefully she will realise that it is not her room!! I am piutting a cat flap in the side of the garage and putting the old chair in there so she can rip that to shreds if she wishes.
we have a leather office chair which the cat likes to sit on the back of, but when she wants to get down, she skids down it with her claws out - it's got great big scratch marks all the way down now!!
