Portable recording studio

My daughter has asked for a portable recording studio for her birthday. I don't know the first thing about these and seem to be spoilt for choice.

Basic facts;

It needs to be multitrack
It needs to be able to record by microphone and directly
It needs to be able to transfer recordings to/from pc

I have looked at both Korg and Boss but I'm still fairly clueless. I can't differentiate between useful features and gimmicks. Any advice would be very useful. My budget is about �200.
