I'm currently trying to choose a new mattress. Does anyone know which is better - the rather expensive, branded, Tempur mattresses or the cheaper memory foam versions? Is there a difference between them? Any advice would be helpful!!

Have you ever slept on these foam mattresses before? if not, I recommend you try and have a trial first because I had to sleep on one for a couple of weeks during very hot weather. I won't deny that it felt very comfortable at one level but the sponge material retained so much body heat that it was like sleeping on an electric blanket that was permanently switched on, on the hottest setting. I believe Tempur used to offer the opportunity to try a mattress on approval first before buying. Don't know whether this is still an option.
That opiotion is still open for tempur 60 day trial

friend had a tempur mattress and had to get rid of it because she woke up soaking every morning because of the heat.
If your buying a new bed i would go for the Vividus ultra-luxe bed, it is supposed to be the best night sleep money can buy. Basically its the best bed in the world. http://www.ibtimes.com/apnews/20070308/beds-fo r-50000.htm
