foam mattresses

Does anyone out there own one of these.

They look quite good as they mould to your body but I notice that there are differing prices and quality. We are going to be buying a new bed too.

Obviously I want to buy the best that we can afford but is there anything I should be looking out for?

if you are talking about the 'tempur' type of foam matress then alli've heard about them is that they are very hot and sticky and alot of people simply can't sleep especially in the summer.

I bought my daughter a 'memory foam' topper from Argos for her bed because she complained it was hard and uncomfortable. It might be a cheaper way for you to 'try before you buy'. She does get hot with it but I have put and extra blanket over it to reduce any sweating.

I can't understand all these reports of sweating. We have a newish bed with a memory foam mattress, and the same foam is on toppers on all the other beds. Not one person's complained about them being too hot! These so-called memory foams vary a lot though. Our bed was expensive, but guaranteed for a minimum of 10 years, so if you decide to go ahead and buy, I'd advise going for the dearer end of the market if possible. They're impossibly comfortable, and i'd never go back to a "normal" mattress again.

The original Tempur mattress is the memory foam all the way through but there are now cheaper foam mattresses that just have a layer of memory on the top. I started with Tempur pillows which are hard but you can get used to them. The mattress is the same, very firm, my daughter swears by hers and no mention of sweating. If you are going to invest, I believe Tempur do a trial 30 day thing so you could return it if unsuitable. John Lewis do one of their own and I'm sure many others do by now.

Check out Dormeo, not as well know as Tempur but very good made of different densities of foam, harder on the edges but different in the main mattress.
