Gloss Paint, oil based or water based?
3 Answers
I was just wondering if anyone has any preference about gloss paint? I use quick drying water based paint instead of the usual oil based paint because of the obvious quick drying and the fact that its easier to clean brushes afterwards. Has anyone any opinions on this this. Thanks in advance.

If you're painting bare wood, water-based paints raise the grain, and this will always show, unless you do a lot of resanding and repainting. And a quicker drying paint can be difficult to apply without leaving brushmarks. (B&Q's water-based 'Everwhite' gloss is an example). In general, the slower the drying time, the better the final finish.
