Granite Transformations in your kitchen?

Has anyone used this product to transform their kitchen worktops to granite? You just put it over your existing worktop. Looks good in the sales stuff but at �600/m2 it ain't cheap but then again - how big is a standard work top in terms of m2 - I have no idea.

I work in a lot of other peoples houses. Nearly all of them who have granite work-tops & sinks have regretted having them.Some you have to treat weekly with special oil & those with light coloured ones have all come to grief with red wine or beetroot. If I'm spending a few thousand quid on a work-top I want it maintenance free!

I don't agree that natural granite is a problem, provided you pick a dark-coloured one. Mrs. BM has had Zimbabwean Black granite is the kitchen for nearly 4 years now and it looks like new. The clue is to pay for a decent-quality one, and not to chop stuff straight onto the granite - it's isn't THAT hard.
I've no idea about granite transformations. If it is real granite, it sounds like a solution looking for a problem to solve. Removing existing worktops isn't difficult, and whatever refit you do, you are going to have an issue about what happens at the back where it butts to existing tiles. If this stuff sits on top of the existing work it can't be very thick? And you've still got the hassle with inset items like sinks and hob units to deal with.
Why not pay less and get the real thing?
