mould problem

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help...

basically I took out a pair of shoes from my cupboard yesterday and they were covered in mould - green spots. So today armed with my mould and mildew remover I have attacked my closet and about 1/3 of my shoes have mould on them - mostly the ones made of textiles rather than plasticy material. The back of the closet shares a wall with my bathroom and I think that might be the problem.
I have two questions
1. are the mouldy shoes salvageable?
2. How can I prevent this happening again? - I am worried to put the non mouldy shoes back in case they go mouldy!

Can't help with Q1

But Q2 I would say now you have attacked the wardrobe with mould remover either leave the door open a little to vent it or get some vent slots cut into the door and if it's raining when you come in make sure your shoes are dry before you put them in there.

it already has vent slots so they're obviously not doing anything! I'm renting - do you think I can complain to my landlord or is it my fault?

If you were on the first floor - it would be a good idea to vent into the roof space in the wardrobe.
Chuckie's right - ventilation is essential...but vented to outside the building. Ground floor suggests a bit of rising damp in the wall inside the cupboard. It might not be, but with lack of ventilation and mould - I would imagine the Landlord ought to investigate, maybe ducting air from outside along the ceiling to the cupboard - at the very least.
