creaky waterpipe/floorboard

I have a creaky waterpipe/floorboard where the ch radiator pipe is a tight fit going through the flooboard. Fitted carpet in place. Any ideas to stop the creaking every time we walk near? I don't really want to lift the carpet.

sorry, no quick fix here, got to lift the carpet to make the hole in the board bigger. why not make a small cut from the wall the rad is mounted on to the pipe hole? it will only be about an inch and when its put back down it will be nearly invisible

Thanks for the answers, I was somehow clutching at straws, but realise I have to make a bigger job of it. As I still believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy, I thought someone might have come up with a magical answer!
