Pink was considered to be a bright, rather startling colour, and therefore suitable for boys.
Blue was considered to be a calm, soft, pastel colour, and therefore suitable for girls.
It is believed that the colour change came from the USA.

This little Victorian boy (and yes,it IS a boy) is typical of Victorian boys.
Both sexes were dressed the same until approx their 5th or 6th birthdays, when the clothes that dressed them made their sex obvious.
In fact the word girl or boy is relatively modern, till about the mid 1800's they were just referred to as a Male child or a Female child.
As in "oh,she had a male child"
Odd isn't it?

Cream/near white walls. Then you can add the colour with accessories..ie bedding wall features/picture lights and whatever else the girlies might enjoy. That would look lovely and airy. There is a lovely plum colour I saw at Next yesterday. that would look lovely with the light walls
I just love planning the decorating and getting the finshed result right. I moved 3 years ago and redesigned the whole place. Walls out here and addred things there,,,,,I want to do it all again now as so many beautiful colour are fashionable now.
