Toilet cistern
8 Answers
We recently had a new toilet and cistern fitted. The cistern is the type with a dual flush, two buttons fitted within a circle. The low flush button has begun to drop a bit but it doesn't seem possible to get into the circle to see what the problem is. Can anyone suggest how this might be fixed?
Thanks in advance.

No that's ok.
The ring assy is usually screwed to the cistern lid from underneath the buttons. The buttons have rods/plates dangling underneath tem, and down to each side of the flush device.
You lift, and pull up the complete cistern lid to remove the whole lot. The rods slide out (on re-assy, you just relocate the rods and drop lid down again.

The buttons (like a half-moon and a small oval) are clipped into the surround. Use a small screwdriver to prise up the small one from a rim in the space between the buttons. It should come out with a small rod on it. Other one clips in similar.

When you remove the buttone, you should see a fastener which attaches the ring/surround assy.
I have found one assy which uses the top lid ring to thread onto a high flush unit. This would need to be unscrewed. Like this one here .
