urgent kitchen help!!

My kitchen is currently being plumbed in. The builder wants me to tell him what tiles/paint I want by the end of the week!! The thing is, I am not sure. I need some ideas. The kitchen is white tongue and groove-type, and the room is L shaped, and not that big. The house is Victorian, and I have tried to maintain the feel by using ceramic tiles. The house is mainly neutral for re-selling and space. The bathroom is blue floor and white tiles/walls.

Q: What colour floor tiles/wall tiles and wall paint would you use? I am not a fan of bright colours as I may need to sell up soon. Ideas REALLY appreciated. Is all white too "cold"?

White is quite difficult to keep from staining in a kitchen, particularly if you cook with tomato puree, spices, beetroot etc.

I'd go for one of those white/marble look type tiles - slightly textured with just a hint of another neutral colour like beige or grey.

Use earthy colours like terracotta or quarry tiles on the floor. Perhaps just keep the walls neutral like magnolia or some very pale pastel colour.
