Am I Entitled to Sink in Bathroom
Hi there. I live in a council property and dont have a sink in my bathroom. My bathroom is small so the only way to fit a sink would be to take out the bath and replace it with a shower cubicle thus giving the room for a sink. The council are refusing to istall a sink giving the excuse that they dont like doing waterworks on any floor other than the ground. Am I entitled by law to a bathroom sink?. Can anyone help?. Thanks.

I am sure it is a legal requirement to provide hand wash facilities in the vicinity of a toilet. It could be argued that the bath would provide this but I would strongly argue this is neither satisfactory nor safe. Could a small child easily wash his hands under a running bath tap?
I found this in respect of minimum requirements to make a property legally fit for habitation:
"It has, for the exclusive use of the occupants (if any), a suitably located fixed bath or shower and a wash hand basin each of which is provided with a satisfactory supply of hot and cold water"
