Plants for the Bedroom

what is a good potted plant to have in a bedroom? I don't like heavy musky scents and I like the colours white and yellow. Preferably something low maintenance that can cope with a bright warm room - my room is east-facing so although i'm in england, it gets absolutely roasting in here in summer with the sun pouring in through the window all day. Preferably something with lots of little flowers like baby's breath rather than a cactus-type-thing.

I don't know much about plants polo_tottie but I have a peace lily in my bedroom and it does well. I like the look of it as well as it's name.

Just a thought,lilies can be dangerous to cats-dunno if you have any.

Streptocarpus, many different colours, quite low maintenance. Very little scent. Not too big.

How about a small china trough of mixed african violets (they do a white one) or mini gerberas, or mini roses just swap them for other things when they fade or go over... or how about an indoor orange (calamondin) beautiful fragrance not musky but rich and sweet, Can't think of any houseplants with small strays of floweres especially for the environment you describe,,,, If it is that hot really only cacti or succulents would do really well but scented leaf geraniums might survive if you remembered to water them

Spider plants! They look really good up high, and they flower on pretty white trails, and they take very little looking after. My cat will eat ours but hey ho, he lives here too. All the maintenance the spider plant needs is watering, and trimming if it gets leggy (and you can plant on the shoots too, if you want to). http://en.wikipedia.o.../Chlorophytum_comosum

thanks guys! you've definitely given me some great ideas!! i'm leaning towards the spiderplant suggestion at the moment because i've had them before when i was a kid and the leaves are a really nice bright green :)

(i don't have a cat, but i hate the smell of lilies, but thanks anyway :) )
