I have a lovely old table lamp but unfortunately the shade is now so thin and waxy I have managed to put a hole in it. Unlike all my other lamp shades it does not sit on with the little ring srewed down to hold it on. It has a longish bit at each side which screw into bits coming up but these bits cannot be removed as they are attached to a little knob which turns the lamp on and off. Sorry I haven't explained this too well but basically new shades will not go on to this lamp. Does anyone know where I could either buy a shade to fit this sort of a lamp or anywhere I could get the present shade recovered?
Is there an evening class round you, or an adult education class where they make lampshades? My mum learned at one of those classes and she made them commercially for a while - if they do, they might take on recovering it for you. Worth a try.
I learned to cover old type shades a few years ago, it's not hard to do, sure you can find out how to do this online, the finished product is very good, and you can just buy a material remnant of your choice!............
