how can i re-puff my sofa cushions?

Hi ABers, iv had a sofa from dfs for just 12 months now & it has started to look really tired & the cushion part that you put your bum on has gone all limp, loose, soft & there is an ugly dip in the middle of each cushion. Ive done all the things they tell you to do like give them a good bang & shake at the end of the day but unfortunately this doesnt work forever. How can i return them back to their original shape, all firm & puffed up again?

A sofa should not be showing that sign of wear after such a short time unless you have a family of acrobats that use it as a spring board.
I have had my sofa for 7 years now and apart from the leather being two shades darker despite regular cleaning it is still in near sales room condition.
Dont let them fob you off with excuses, i will dig out the which magazine that has the info on items being fit for purpose and will drop you another message. May not be until the morning though as I have got to get tea and then off to run the local scout group for my sin's!!

thanks a lot house husband. Im 'only' 25 years old & since iv had my own place iv had hand-me-downs & second hand sofas just to make do but i thought id treat myself to a new one last January (it actually got delivered beginning of March though). Iv got some sort of cover/ insurance on the sofa but i 'think' this only covers marks or stains on it. Do you think i might have a genuine case to complain? If so, what could i expect them to do? Also the material on the cushions has gone all flat & loss of life if you know what i mean but the main problem is the softness & dip in the cushions. Only just got around to rechecking this one, no problem with the advice and going by what Naz has also put on here then you have a definite case for replacement.
Dont let them fob you off with replacement cushion fillings unless they agree to the guarantee restarting from the time of refill, that way if they go again you will be able to get them sorted free of charge.
What ever you do remember the customer is the one with the power, not the company however big they are, they are always worried about bad publicity especially in the current economic climate.
Hope all goes well for you and you get things sorted, it is never nice buying something new for it to end up looking shabby after a short time.

Parents (aged 83 & 87 - weighing 8 and half stone and 10 stone) bought expensive "sturdy" leather suite from DFS. On delivery date mum complained about damage to sofa cushion and within days seat cushions on chairs dipped, leather stretched and uncomfortable to sit on. Mum complained and they sent someone (3 wks later) to inspect. About a month later they came to re-stuff seat cushions.
Whilst waiting for the remedial work, mum wrote to say if not successful she would complaint again but never even received an acknowledgement.
After just a week or so seats are again uncomfortable and parents want either refund or alternative style of suite in the hope that the problem is specific to this style / manufacturer.
Any help with the correct wording, as well as the correct address/person to write to, would be greatly appreciated.

Mid Jan 2011, I ordered in-store DFS 2 leather sofas; their brochure & web site said DFS had 3 UK factories making sofas exclusively for them and the salesman I dealt with emphasised only this source. True, but cleverly worded. After signing the contract (legally binding in-store), whilst still sitting on the sofa - the cushions seemed suddenly to melt away as a reaction to the foam reaching a certain body heat temperature. Suddenly there was no support in the cushions. The salesman said this was only due to it being a display sofa - 'many bums had been sitting on it'.
Now earlier, I had purchased Argos sofas with a label 'made in China' which had the same effect - but I had easily sent them back at 30 days with no quibble. After 4 days of worrying about my DFS purchase I rang to try to cancel explaining my worry with the foam cushions - but was told 'your order has now gone off to Asia!' Asia??? So it was not being 'craftsmen built in the UK'!! Several letters and phone calls were exchanged with DFS (non would give me a H/O contact name) - and they remained adamant & forceful. I contacted the Advertising Standards Authority - who discovered, and advised me, that less than half of DFS sofas are made in the UK - over half are made in Europe and the Far East! Because of this involvement, DFS have now amended their website to say that 'almost half DFS sofas are made in the UK' and have agreed to state this in forthcoming brochures - but they seem reluctant to advertise where the rest are made? I also took this case to the Furniture Ombudsman (from advise in another forum). Just after the three month delivery time had passed (April 2011) TFO advised me that DFS had cancelled the contract and I received this in writing from Matthew Howarth Customer Service Manager at DFS H/O in Doncaster.
