Hi all, I would be grateful to know if anyone has had dealings with Nationwide Energy. They called to say they were government advisors on property insulation, that we were eligible for a government grant to cover 80% of the cost and could they send a surveyor round. They have arranged this for Thursday of this week but I would be grateful for any feed back regarding this company before letting them into my property, Thanks in advance for any input, Fran b

It sounds like cold calling to me, fran. Unless you have applied for a grant for insulation, how would they know that you might be interested?
They are a nationwide company with a website http://www.nesuk.com/ - but personally, if I were going to have this work done, I wouldn't offer the work to someone who just rang up. Many companies can access these grants and if might be advisable to seek alternative quotations from local companies or who have done this for your neighbours. You might like to read this first, about grants and if you might be eligible http://www.energysavi...-for-all-householders
If it were me I would worry that if I'm not eligible, they'd try to sell it to me anyway.

I may be sceptical but I don't ever take offers from people who cold call me.

Thank you very much for your advice boxtops, I think I will cancel the survey and look into the options you suggested. Much appreciate your input x.
Cheers fran - they might be perfectly OK, but I would be cautious if they are offering something you didn't know that you wanted!
We had loft insulation done by the local council. I would give them a call if I was you. At least you will know that they are relliable.

Thanks Margaret-NIce, we've decided not to have the survey done but just look into grants etc by ourselves. Thanks for your advice x
Let us know how you get on when you cancel the appointment - you need to ask them to take your contact details off their database so you don't get any more calls.
