Who's the LandlordNot sure if this is the correct section but Heyho - -
I have some information for a landlord as regards someone who has a tenancy in a flat and I know that they are not there for at least 50% of the time.
Her boyfriend has a place many miles away and they spend the majority of their time at his house.
I have tried contacting the Benefits section but they are not interested!! (yes they get full rent rebate here - other place belongs to the bf outright)
It is in a London borough and I am a little confused as the majority of the propertys have been transfeered to seceral arms length managment organisations but I'm not sure who has this one.
Can I find this out in order to send my information to the correct people.

1) if the person gets "found out" he'll lose his/her income or have to find anor tennant
2) he is being paid for someone living there, but the flat/furnishings is only being worn out at 1/2 the normal rate!
i'm really not sure what a seceral arms length managment organisation is but if they are the landlord they also probably wont care owing to the above reasons

OK Count
So you think its OK for someone to have flat which you and I pay for in respect of Housing Benefit, just so this person can simply come down to London, when she feels like it, to use her flat as an overnight stop while going to various West End shows - which she pays for at a vastly reduced rate as she is considered disabled - and then drive back up North whenever she feels like it.
She is also still registered for doctors and hospital appointments in London.
Each visit costs her - by her own admission £100 a time in petrol ......

bednobs - sorry typos all over the place tonight : seceral = several
jemisa : I have known both parties for many years and despite the fact that they keep saying they will give the flat up they havent done so for a great length of time and I just want to do what I feel is the right thing. Maybe others would consider this wrong but when I see and hear of others who would really appreciate this flat it does make me angry

hi again. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with still being registered at the doctors and hospital appointments in London - she has to have them somewhere. If she falls ill at the b/f's she can register as a temporary resident with a GP up there. Having had to move areas and consultants before in the past, i can tell you it's a lot of hassle and can actually affect your condition (for example if different consultants have different ideas)
I think if you've rung the benefit office and they are not interested, i can't really see who else would be (except possibly the council at his end if he is claiming the single person's Ctax discount)

Have you tried this https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/benefitfraud/
Just because the circumstances have changed doesn't mean they have to give up the flat, so the landlord won't be interested unless she starts sub-letting it. I am surprised the benefits people weren't interested - maybe this means she actually isn't getting the benefits for it any more as you claim, and is paying for it herself.
