Hi, with "the years" creeping up, there have been thoughts about a possible move from an owned flat to a Trailerhome upon retiring.
Has anybody done it, tried it out, heard reports or what are your views in general on it. Thanks for your time.

We do have at least one Aber that has done this but they are temporarily unavailable.
If you're lucky and catch Doc on Monday for the 25min he's not suspended he'll know.
Maybe his missus will be around later - can't see her being stupid enough to go fishing with the Doc.
Watch out that the park owners are reputable - have seen some horror stories about people they want to shift.
I used to live in a caravan and knew several old people who lived in trailer homes. There are many complications that you don't get with bricks and mortar, both legal and practical, I for one wouldn't entertain the idea unless the alternative was a tent.

Fabulous place to live, they are not trailers or caravans but purpose built park homes, best thing we ever did. All the luxuries of bricks and mortar, a fabulous community spirit, cheap to run, club house with indoor swimming pool (free) and very safe with security at night. I highly recommend it.
Pussnboots I doubt the facilities are free I bet you are paying ground rent. We have a friend who did this but the park owner has increased the fees to such anextent they are now regretting it.
maclarencat. I can only speak from my own experience and I sympathise with anyone who may have fallen foul due to dodgy site owners. Of course we pay ground rent but that is covered by the 1983 mobile home and caravan act and anyone (site owner) insisting on ignoring these terms and conditions will soon go out of business. The cost of the ground rent is well worth the cost, it gives us many benefits that you would not get living in a traditional home. You have to weigh up the total cost throughout the year and utility bills are a fraction of the cost of living in a "normal house" During the very bad cold winter last our dual fuel bill gas/electric came to £90 for 3 months Oct/Dec & Jan/March £65, plus we don't have any water rates at all, they are included in our ground rent. Anyone wanting to move/purchase a Park Home should do their research, talk to people/ ask questions, there are pitfalls in any property purchase.
my friend has done this about a year ago EEZA, she is so happy, she loves it!....so cosy, she wishes she'd done it years ago!......may well do the same myself when my hubby retires!.......
I have lived in 3 seperate 'mobile homes' and loved it. I was younger and didn't have so much 'stuff' Grandad G would love to go back into one but says he we would need a second one for all my bits and pieces as he doesn't think that he would ever get me to downsize! ha ha
puss, looked at your link, lovely place to live!...............
Have you thought of something like this: http://www.marquismot.../page-0/modelno-13223

and just heading off...?
mark that would suit me!......love to just travel around the country, but not for everyone, some folk want stability and to be part of a community!.......but I would love to just take off this way!.......and maybe we wil.......
Welshi, the modern ones really are stunning! Effectively, you have a mobile one bedroom flat...
Mark, I know, is my dream to own one!.......would love it, have moved home lots!......my family say that I am a gypsy at heart, would love this lifestyle, travel to wherever you please, and move on at will!......
i knew someone who lived in a nice static caravan, at billing aquadrome (northants area).
nice grounds, with a big lake and many public events taking place on the site etc etc.
but im sure i remember him telling me that he could only live there for 9 months of the year(?) and for the remaining 3, he had to stay with a good friend, who'd put him up.

his circumstances must have been different to puss and docs, because they dont have to do that, do you puss?
Puss, please may I ask what the ground rent is?
When the first Mr Craft retired he bought a Winnebago and lived all over Europe in it. It used to have a trailer attached with a Smart Car on to tootle around in.
sounds like heaven craft!..........would love to do that......and loooby, some sites are residential, meaning that you can live there all year, and some are not, therefore you have to leave for tow months, usually Jan and Feb, wouldn't want that, but residential is more expensive I think, but worth it!..........
ah, i see welshi, thanks
