I've recently started working away from home and therefore have decided to rent a flat nearer to where i work rather than travelling!

The flat i have rented has mains gas and has no carbon monoxide detector fitted, i've been told that if there is mains gas then the landlord has to fit a carbon monoxide detector and also smoke alarms, is this right?

http://www.hse.gov.uk...estic/faqlandlord.htm a CO detector seems to be a strongly recommended item rather than a must do.

But if you cant wait for a landlord to decide if they want to fit one then they can be bought quite cheaply.
