We are negotiating to buy a flat which is all electric (night storage etc) an is on Economy 7. Looking at various suppliers I have come across Ecotricity which seems much cheaper than others. Does anyone know about this utility company? Not sure if it covers the whole of the country (customer services not open over the weekend) - we will be in the North East (N Yorks). Any advice appreciated as we are slightly nervous about the cost of all electric.

Our flat is all electric and we pay £55 a month for the whole lot, which includes economy 7 for the hot water and storage heaters, so its not too bad. That's with Southern Electricity. Would be interested to hear how you get on with the other company though.
If you go on to the Which? Switch website, it gives the low-down on all the energy suppliers including tariffs and customer satisfaction. Ecotricity has only 35000 customers in the whole country.

Unfortunately the comparison web sites ask for current usage details - obviously we don't know how much electricity we will use, particularly as we won't be living there full time. Understand the current supplier is Scottish Power but others have told me that nPower is cheaper - however Ecotricity has come up on line as being much cheaper but as it's a 'new kid on the block' would like to know if anyone else has experience of them.
As they have only 35000 customers in the whole country, there's little hope anyone on here has even heard of them! This link is your best bet - and you don't have to input any info.
