I will be moving out the house I currently share with my Dad next year and at the moment most of the utility bills are in my name and get paid out of my account.

When the time comes to move out is it possible to simply switch the accounts into his name with his bank details (obviously with his permission) or would I have to cancel the contracts and him take out new ones?

Just trying to get things prepared in my mind in advance.

I think you'll have to ask your utility provider - different suppliers may have different views on this.
You will notify them that you are ending your contracts and they might ask for the new name to write to them to set up the new contracts, but they won't let you set up a contract and payments in someone else's name - you could be telling them anything!
