Recommended Roofers

Could anyone recommend a good roofer, we live in Woodley/Romiley area of Stockport. Thanks.

There are lots of organisations that can (theoretically, at least) help you to find a reliable tradesman. However they're nearly all commercially-run and rely on income from the firms they list in order to make a profit. (So they've got no incentive to de-list people who provide a poor service).

However the TrustMark scheme is different. It's run on a not-for-profit basis and is endorsed by the Trading Standards Institute. So using the postcode search facility here should be your first step in finding a reliable roofer:

That should provide you with a short-list of contractors from whom you can obtain quotations for the work.

I have always found that personal recommendations from friends or neighbours are the best way of finding reliable tradesmen.

Flutter, I'll keep you posted on this. There's a guy in Cheadle Heath who's done a lot of building work for my family - absolutely brilliant bloke. He virtually rebuilt my mum's house in Italy but I've texted him to ask if he does roofing. Pretty sure he does but want to be sure before recommending.
